Field Report – Another Snake Saved

Currently our team in India is traveling throughout the Eastern Ghats working with communities to solve human-snake conflict. Near Sompeta, Andhra Pradesh, Save The Snakes Co-Founder Murthy Kantimahanti recently rescued and released this Russell’s viper (Daboia russelii).

The viper was found inside a home and luckily Murthy was able to safely relocate it to some adjacent forest. A few weeks ago, there was a king cobra that was rescued from this same location. As king cobras love to eat snakes, even venomous snakes, did this viper unknowingly attract a hungry king? Or was it just chance? Our team in India is working to answer these questions that will keep humans and snakes safe and living in harmony.

You can help us continue to save the snakes by donating to our organization. Thank you for your support of our snake conservation efforts.
