A new collaborative effort is taking place for snake conservation in South India! Beginning in April, Save The Snakes Conservation Partner, the Eastern Ghats Wildlife Society, will begin training the Forest Department staff of Andhra Pradesh about snake awareness and rescue.
From the Eastern Ghats Wildlife Society:
“We understand the fact that working closely with the local government will yield steady progress towards achieving the conservation goals and therefore, we collaborated with the Forest Department of Andhra Pradesh to build the capacity of their frontline staff through a series of awareness and training programs on snakes in the Eastern Ghats! Our Founder President, Murthy Kantimahanti is an internationally trained herpetologist and he will be the main resource person for this first-of-its-kind program in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.”
These workshops will be held every second Monday of each month at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Visakhapatnam.
