Snake Relocation Course - California Dept. of Parks and Recreation

The one-day Snake Relocation Course includes 7 hours of instruction and educational materials. Students will be provided snake handling clothing and tools for use during the course.

Packing List

• Sturdy ankle-high or taller boots (snake boots or gaiters if available). Students will not be allowed to handle snakes in sneakers or open-toed shoes.
• Long pants (jeans, khakis, etc) for handling. Students will not be permitted to handle snakes while wearing shorts.
• Water bottle
• If applicable, a written medical history to be provided to on-site wilderness first responder, including current medications. This is in case you have any conditions that may affect how you work in stressful situations, are on any medications that could alter treatment in the case of an envenomation or have any allergies. Medical histories are kept confidential and shredded after training courses.
• Equipment (snake hooks, tongs, snake gaiters etc) will be available for your use for free during the course.
• Notebook and pen. You will not be able to take photos of the slides during the course, so please take thorough notes.
