Human-snake conflict is on the rise and therefore the threats to snakes are numerous. Unfortunately many species of venomous and non-venomous snakes are killed every day by local people and king cobras are no exception. Snakes are also threatened by habitat loss, road kill and loss of prey populations.
Snakes are extremely underrepresented in wildlife conservation efforts and are demonized throughout the world due to fear and ignorance. We recognize that it will take a diverse group of people from a variety of different backgrounds to create a movement to save the snakes and improve the lives of people who live near these misunderstood and ecologically important animals. To reduce the threats that snakes face, Save The Snakes is currently expanding our programs in the Eastern Ghats of India and implementing snake conservation efforts that will benefit humans and wildlife.
