Snake Conservation Center Opens In Sacramento, California

To better serve our community in Northern California, Save The Snakes has opened the Snake Conservation Center in Sacramento, California.

A Space For Snake Conservation, Education and Community Outreach

The Snake Conservation Center (SCC) represents a truly unique opportunity for our organization, which will greatly expand our local and international snake conservation efforts. The SCC will serve as a foundation from which to conduct our work and better serve our worldwide network of Conservation Partners. The SCC will also allow us to expand our regional snake education programs, drastically reduce human-rattlesnake conflict and address the snake conservation needs of threatened and endangered snake species in the Western United States.

Plus, the SCC will serve as a physical location for all things snake education! Save The Snakes Biologists will offer educational workshops, day camps for young learners and specialized training courses about California native herpetofauna.

In partnership with the Rattlesnake Conservancy, Save The Snakes is now proud to offer our Venomous Handling and Certification Program. The Program courses will be held at the SCC and the curriculum sets the standard for safety, husbandry, and protocol for working with venomous reptiles. Join us at our next course!

Organizations Working Together for Snake Conservation

This opportunity could not be possible without the incredible vision and generosity of Sacramento Splash, our host and partner organization. With our missions to educate on the importance of habitat and wildlife conservation, both organizations felt this would be a serendipitous partnership. Save The Snakes and Sacramento Splash will now share the building that hosts the SCC to further our respective missions. Be sure to learn about their amazing programs at www.sacsplash.org.

Located in Sacramento County, the SCC is surrounded by wildlife and beautiful scenery. The building is adjacent to a beautiful nature preserve, that protects critically important vernal pool and native grassland habitat. In the spring the wildflowers are so incredible!

Support The Snake Conservation Center

The snake conservation programs conducted at the Snake Conservation Center are made possible because of the generosity of compassionate people and organizations who are inspired and dedicated to protect threatened snake populations and mitigate human-snake conflict around the world. Please donate today to help us continue to fund our programs. Thank you for your support.

We look forward to connecting with you in-person at the SCC or online to spread our wildlife conservation message in your community!
