Eight years ago, Save The Snakes was founded with a snake conservation vision. We believed that if Save The Snakes could support wildlife conservationists to mitigate human-snake conflict in their own communities, then they could lay the groundwork to protect threatened snake populations in their part of the world. To do this, we implemented the Save The Snakes Grants Program.
The purpose of a Save The Snakes Grant is to empower passionate, committed people with a snake conservation vision. We fund individuals, small organizations and community groups that focus on community-based conservation strategies to protect threatened snake populations and mitigate human-snake conflict.
In 2025, Save The Snakes received a large number of proposals for projects from around the world. We are proud to award grants to three incredible snake conservationists.

Learn more about their important projects:
Dickson Katana – “Long-Term Monitoring of the Mount Kenya Bush Viper (Atheris desaixi): Population dynamics, habitat use and conservation threats“
Through the Save The Snakes Support Grant Program, Save The Snakes supported Dickson Katana to conduct long-term monitoring and raise awareness about the Mount Kenya Bush Viper through research and education, which will lead to increased knowledge about this endangered species and education and awareness about snakes in Kenya.
Manuel Angel Galeana Rivera – “Effects of Mitigation Translocation on Bothrops asper: Implications for Conservation and Human-Snake Conflict Management“
Through the Save The Snakes Support Grant Program, Save The Snakes supported Manuel Angel Galeana Rivera to investigate the behaviour of Bothrops asper and reduce the conflict between humans and the venomous snakes in Mexico. This project will gather crucial data to understand the snake’s behavior and provide education to the local community to prevent snake bites and foster conservation efforts.
Soe Thandar Aung – “Community-Based Snake Conservation and Human-Snake Conflict Mitigation in Rural Myanmar“
Through the Save The Snakes Vijayan Devan Southeast Asian Snake Conservation Grant Program, Save The Snakes supported Soe Thandar Aung to address the critical issue of human-snake conflict in Myanmar. By educating local community members about snakes, the initiative aims to foster a culture of coexistence and reduce the unnecessary killing of snakes.
We wish these recipients success in their projects and support their efforts for snake conservation and education.
