South Africa: November 20 - December 1, 2026

Answer the call of the wild and join an unparalleled African adventure, where thrilling wildlife encounters champion critical conservation efforts! Save The Snakes presents an exclusive ecotour to South Africa, designed to envelope you in the stunning natural majesty and unparalleled biodiversity of this incredible nation. More than just a journey, this is your chance to directly witness the raw power of the African bush and contribute to the vital protection of its most legendary creatures.

Ecotour Highlights:

  • Travel to world-renowned Kruger National Park, where you’ll have the incredible opportunity to spot the iconic Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), along with a myriad of other charismatic African animals in their natural habitat.

  • Visit the Hoedspruit Reptile Centre and gain invaluable insights into the crucial importance of reptile conservation, learning about these often-misunderstood creatures.

  • Engage with our local education initiative, the Snake Education and Community Awareness Program (SECAP), and discover how local communities are empowered to prevent human-snake conflict through education and understanding.

  • Take a breathtaking boat trip and explore the Blyde River Canyon, the largest green canyon in the world, marveling at its dramatic landscapes and lush vegetation.

  • Immerse yourself in the wonders of the African bush, with beautiful wildlife sightings and captivating natural scenery all around you.

  • Learn about diverse wildlife conservation efforts as we visit several dedicated wildlife centers, showcasing the various ways conservation is conducted in South Africa.

  • Explore one of South Africa’s national botanical gardens, home to an impressive variety of native plant species, offering a unique glimpse into the country’s rich botanical heritage.

The South Africa Ecotour costs $3,600 per traveler, which covers all your primary expenses including lodging, meals, in-country transport, park fees, and local gratuities.

You will need to independently cover your international airfare to Johannesburg, as well as personal costs like travel insurance, snacks, and optional excursions. While standard tips for local staff are included, personal tips for your Save The Snakes guides are welcomed but optional.

A very important feature of this Ecotour adventure is the limited group size, since fewer travelers ensures a quieter, more intimate experience of nature, as well as a lighter footprint on the environment. The maximum group size for this Ecotour is 12 participants. With Save The Snakes Ecotour Leaders included, the total group size could be 14 individuals.

Costa Rica: Late 2027

Pura Vida! Save The Snakes is potentially taking a group of adventurers back to Costa Rica in late 2027, likely around November.

Imagine waking up to the sound of birds singing, surrounded by nature and feeling a sense of calm. As one of the most bio-diverse countries in the world and a leader in ecotourism, Costa Rica is a country that everyone must visit. Costa Rica boasts a large diversity of wildlife and picturesque landscapes of rainforests, volcanoes and beaches. It is also home to many species of mammals, birds, frogs and of course, snakes. Home to 139 known snake species (only 22 venomous), all within a very small geographical area, makes this a perfect place for a Save The Snakes Ecotour. Snakes are only one aspect of the tour, as you will also have the opportunity to see the local fauna such as monkeys and sea turtles and experience the local culture through our sustainable tours.
