Save The Snakes works to protect threatened snake populations and reduce negative interactions between humans and snakes throughout the United States.

Rattlesnake Resources

In an effort to mitigate human-rattlesnake conflict in Northern California, Save The Snakes began a new program in 2019 called Rattlesnake Resources. These efforts include humane rattlesnake removal, rattlesnake and nonvenomous snake handling workshops and rattlesnake property inspections and consultations. The future goal of Rattlesnake Resources is to coincide with a long-term urban rattlesnake telemetry research project. As we develop this program, more details will be announced in the near future.

Venomous Herpetology Symposium

Co-hosted by the The Rattlesnake Conservancy and Save The Snakes, the Venomous Herpetology Symposium brings together zoos, researchers, students, private herpetoculturists, and conservationists in a common setting to discuss various issues in venomous herpetology.

The First Annual Venomous Herpetology Symposium was held on September 8-9, 2018, at Zoo Miami. The theme of this year was “Bridging the Gap”, referring to bridging the gap between the aforementioned groups’ conservation efforts and the public. Topics at the symposium will include partnerships, education initiatives, biosecurity, snakebite management, managing collections of venomous reptiles, venom toxinology, conservation techniques, and using social media.
